Choosing a Secure Parent PIN

Good PIN Practices:

  • Use 6 digits instead of 4 for better security
  • Avoid obvious numbers like 1234, 0000, or birthdates
  • Don’t use the same PIN as your phone or bank
  • Choose something memorable but not obvious to kids

PIN Ideas:

  • Important dates only you would know
  • Address numbers from a previous home
  • Anniversary or wedding date
  • Random numbers you can remember

Avoid These PINs:

  • ❌ 1234, 1111, 0000 (too obvious)
  • ❌ Your child’s birthday (they might guess)
  • ❌ Current year (2025, etc.)
  • ❌ Phone number digits

Keeping Your PIN Safe

Do:

  • Memorize your PIN - don’t write it down where kids can find it
  • Keep it private from children
  • Use it every time you access parent settings
  • Change it periodically for extra security

Don’t:

  • Share it with children - even older teens
  • Write it on your phone or computer where kids can see
  • Use the same PIN for multiple accounts
  • Let kids watch when you enter it

Common PIN Issues

“PIN Not Working” After Reset

  • Wait a few minutes for the change to sync
  • Make sure you’re entering the new PIN correctly
  • Try logging out and back in
  • Contact support if issues persist

Kids Keep Guessing the PIN

  • Choose a less obvious number
  • Use 6 digits instead of 4
  • Change it regularly
  • Don’t enter it when kids are watching

Forgot PIN Again

  • Use the same reset process
  • Consider using a password manager to securely store it
  • Choose something more memorable but still secure

When to Change Your PIN

Regular Changes:

  • Every 6 months for security
  • When kids get older and might guess easier
  • If you suspect someone else knows it

Immediate Changes:

  • If a child sees you enter it
  • After a family argument about chores/rewards
  • If older teens had access and might share it
  • If you’re concerned about account security

Additional Protection:

  • Enable two-factor authentication if available
  • Use a strong account password
  • Set up family member permissions appropriately
  • Review account activity regularly
